Bettina Arndt and the Australian Media

Bettina Arndt continues to go from strength to strength promoting Men’s issues in Australia and is facing the media head on as she addresses the feral treatment they have given visiting film director Cassie Jaye, who Arndt has been hosting as part of the International Conference on Men’s Issues on the Gold Coast, Australia.
Bettina conducted a publicity stunt on the weekend when she filmed a video on a Gold Coast beach with six blue body bags lying on the sand. There had been extraordinary news coverage of a baby whale that was euthanised after beaching itself and the large human attempt to save the whale failed. Arndt must have been furious at this because, as she has been reporting for a long time, male suicide gets absolutely no coverage at all on the news or current affairs shows, and yet six men commit suicide out of the eight suicides that occur every day in Australia. As Bettina expresses it is extraordinary that so much media coverage occurs for one whale and absolutely nothing is seen or heard about something that kills so many people on a daily basis.

Bettina then published a powerful response to the appalling televised interviews of Cassie Jaye, as she had been the person behind organizing the interviews in advance and provided the evidence that proved the Sunrise program received The Red Pill movie one month in advance. Not only that, Bettina explains she had been given assurance that Andrew O’Keefe would not play any part in the interview. This was requested by Arndt as she was well aware that O’Keefe was heavily involved in the organization that runs the White Ribbon campaign in Australia that brings awareness of violence against women and is responsible for much of the misinformation and lies that was used to push The Red Pill from theatre screenings earlier in Australia. It was a clear conflict of interest for him to attack her, representing the views of the White Ribbon organization, on a program that he was a host, without declaring this beforehand so that the audience can see exactly why he is taking this stance. This was a deliberate ambush and Arndt was appalled by their “feral” handling of it. For more details, click the link on the left panel in the Link List to read her article in full.
Finally Arndt came up on the small screen herself on The Morning Show to report on The Red Pill and Cassie Jaye in what must have been an attempt by the Seven Network to smooth things over after the Weekend Sunrise debacle. They gave Arndt 4.5 minutes of air time which hardly seemed to be enough at all, however it was indeed a positive move to allow Arndt to speak about Men’s issues. But, lo and behold, Co-host Kylie Gillies made an attempt to cut Arndt off and argue the point. She interjected and questioned Arndt’s belief that men’s suicide isn’t featured in the media at all, but she soon bit her lip and refrained from pressing the issue, which was a good move. It is funny how women in the media tend to have the instinct to shut the conversation down any time men’s issues are raised. This is part of the reason why misinformation becomes so resonate but it results in disproportionate funding of support services. We need truth in media, and we need more people like Arndt hosting these television programs so that it is not just another line of feminists pushing the same incorrect messages just to support their ideology. Hats off to Bettina Arndt!! Thank you for getting men’s issues out there, whatever it takes.
